Few providers feel ready for pay-for-value systems [Video]

Though many health care providers are implementing a value-based payment system, only 3 percent report feeling highly prepared for the transition.

According to the new HIMSS Cost Accounting Survey, the challenges for these organizations vary based on market, but most of the respondents represent urban areas. To improve the transition, the survey indicated a need for tools to track and evaluate quality of care and better communication between providers.

Respondents also reported looking for more industry consistency, especially when it comes to pricing. Understanding how to price health care in a value-based system is one component of an efficient revenue cycle.
